In a significant development that underscores China's intent to play a more prominent role on the global stage, President Xi Jinping is set to embark on a diplomatic tour of Europe, visiting France, Serbia, and Hungary. This move comes at a time when the world is closely watching the unfolding situation in Ukraine and its broader implications for international relations and security. Xi's visit, scheduled from May 5-10, signals Beijing's desire to deepen ties with key European nations and potentially position itself as a mediator in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The choice of countries for Xi's visit is telling. France, as one of the EU's leading powers, plays a crucial role in shaping the bloc's foreign policy. Strengthening bilateral relations with France could provide China with a strategic foothold in Europe. Meanwhile, Serbia and Hungary, both of which have maintained relatively warm relations with Beijing, represent important partners in China's Belt and Road Initiative, which seeks to expand its influence through infrastructure and investment projects.
This tour is expected to focus on a range of issues, including economic cooperation, trade, and the potential for China to play a role in mediating the Ukraine crisis. The visit to these three countries underscores China's ambition to assert itself as a key player in global affairs, seeking to bridge divides and foster stability in a region currently fraught with tension.
Observers will be keenly watching the outcomes of Xi's meetings…

How do you perceive the choice of France, Serbia, and Hungary for Xi Jinping's visit in terms of China's strategic interests?
@9LXQ8W32wks2W
I don't think it's solely set up for political engagement to plot against us. I'm not paranoid over the setup of other countries and their relations to other countries. We have a strong military, if things ARE getting out of hand, our politicians seem to have no problem in going over to exam those situations.

I don't perceive it any differently, China is just doing business and that's all it is.
