On Thursday the White House released a graphic on social media listing Republican Congressman who oppose student loan relief and how much they received in Paycheck Protection Plan Loans.
Georgia District 9 Representative Andrew Clyde, (R) tweeted his disapproval of the Biden-Harris Administration’s student debt relief, SDR, and SAVE plan.
Following President Biden’s announcement of his administration’s plan to cancel millions of dollars in student debt, Rep. Clyde tweeted:
“Joe Biden once again announces that he will transfer millions more in student debt onto the backs of hardworking taxpayers. This scam is nothing more than a desperate attempt to buy votes with Americans’ hard-earned money.”
Three hours following that tweet, The White House swiftly responded claiming:
“Congressman Clyde had $156,697 of debt forgiven from a PPP loan.”
A PPP loan or a Paycheck Protection Program is a loan forgiveness program usually for small businesses to help them pay for rent, mortgage interest and utilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Financial and business experts dub PPP loans as one of the largest U.S. government business bailouts ever, noting their impact on local and national elections through funds to businesses and banks in certain locations.
As the feud continues, Rep. Clyde Responded:
“Old Joe has confused non-taxable income with one of his “loans.” But I certainly hope the IRS received its “fair share” of 10% for the Big Guy!”
Amid the heated exchange, the debate over student debt relief and government assistance programs underscores the broader challenges and divisions facing American politics today.

PPP Loans for people that were FORCED to close their businesses by the government VS Student Loans which people took out voluntarily.
Student loans were a program the government had no business taking over. It has not lasted even close to one decade.
Here come the defenders who say:
"But that's different because Congress voted to make PPP loans forgivable and then gave themselves millions of free taxpayer money."
Americans who spend their time defending those who do nothing but take from the people to give to the elites, to the wealthy, and to corporations while attacking anyone who tries to help every day working Americans will never make sense to me.
I think you mean, “Here come defenders pointing out that this is a bad faith argument comparing two different loans.” But then you’d have to argue in good faith.
@RepublicDonnySocialist4wks4W
So in your good faith argument are you pointing out the student loan forgiveness programs that are law which have existed for decades?
Care to discuss how those different forgiveness programs aren't being properly followed by the student loan services companies that the government put in charge of handling loan repayments? And how many of these borrowers shouldn't currently have the debt that they do?
Programs such as:
-Income-Driven Repayment
-Public Service Loan Forgiveness
You will of course point out how over 2 million people enrolled in the Income-Driven Repayment program should hav… Read more
Except *these* haven’t existed for decades. They’re new. And unconstitutional.
@RepublicDonnySocialist4wks4W
Except *these* aren't unconstitutional.
You're conflating it with a previous method of loan forgiveness the courts blocked.
So much for good faith arguments.
@PonieBobbyConstitution4wks4W
Can we pause and just examine that the White House is comfortable with either:
A- genuinely not knowing how a government program worked
OR
B- lying about it this hard, on easily falsified grounds
Those are the only 2 options here…
The idea that paying off rich kids student debt is the same as a pandemic small business loan is mind numbingly stupid.
@SeahorseLucyDemocrat4wks4W
Rich kids... lolol. Nice attempt at spin. Just accept the burn. This ppp comp represents GOP hypocrisy at its finest. Party of "law and order", let's nominate a crook who fomented J6 to represent us in the white house
@KittenDomVeteran4wks4W
You must be slow.
The people who had PPP comp had to fulfill conditions with that money and did.
The people not paying their student loans are getting a bailout for failure.
PPP stands for Paycheck Protection Program. It was implemented to pay ppl to stay home to slow the spread of a novel deadly disease so they wouldn't become homeless while the Govt dealt with it.
Going to college & taking out debt is not a life or death requirement. Good talk.
