Why might it be significant for countries to form alliances based on shared civic principles rather than geographical proximity?

In today's world, we are more connected than ever, so geographical location is not nearly a important, but it is still important to be friendly with our neighbors

we are all part of this world but we don't always treat each other as humans, we were all put here to make this world into something but as we do that we fight eachother.

by conducting certain research it is found that certain country's that band may have certain differences but have the equality to do things the make an alliance and trade certain goods and needs.
